Facilities

Commons

Will Rice is made up of three separate buildings: the Commons, Old Dorm, and New Dorm. Commons is every Will Ricer's home base; whether it is 2 am or 3 pm, you can always come to Commons to study, play a board game, or just chat with friends. With our bustling Commons culture, Will Ricers of all years come together in one big community!

Parlor

Parlor

Parlor is a cozy room located in "lower" commons complete with a long table and couches. Above the fireplace is the set of our old Beer Bike t-shirts, going all the way back a few decades. Next time you are in Parlor, try to choose your favorite Beer Bike theme!

PDR

Private Dining Room

Private Dining Room, usually known just as the PDR, is located in "upper" commons, across from the projector. As the name implies, PDR is the perfect spot for a group meal or meeting, as well as for an impromptu movie night. PDR is also the home to a piano that all Will Ricers are welcome to use.

Commons

Commons

Will Ricers love our commons. During O-Week, it is home to the meticulously detailed O-Week posters that flank either side of commons. Year round, we have our 5 sweep banners proudly displayed in the back. Oh, and we also have a disco ball!

game room

Game Room

The Game Room is across from Parlor and has any game you can imagine — from Smash and Mario Cart to table tennis and pool. Game Room is open at all times, perfect for a quick (or long) study break!

kitchen

Kitchen

Will Rice commons is also home to a communal kitchen. Will Ricers can use to cook any meals that they desire, as well as reserve it when they plan to cook large meals. When using this space, make sure to clean up afterwards to keep kitchen tidy for its next users!

Sheren in mailroom

Mailroom

This is Sheren's home base! The College Coordinator mans the office during normal working hours, keeping track of all of the mail and packages alike. Stop by to pick up a delivery or to grab a snack from Sheren's infamous candy bowl.

Old Dorm

Dorms

Old Dorm, built in 1916, is the most historic residential building on campus! Inside, there are singles, doubles, triples, and even a couple quad rooms. Typically, the singles are reserved for upperclassmen. If the last two digits of your room number are 29 or less, you will be living in Old Dorm!

wiener hole couches

Wiener Hole

Located on the 4th floor, Wiener Hole is the perfect secret study spot. This photo is just a part of a larger whole — Wiener Hole has desks, a small library, and outlets.

Although Old Dorm may not have many commons spaces, it does have floor culture! Old Dorm residents get to know each other well due to its communal nature, so everyone knows their neighbors!

New Dorm

Dorms

New Dorm is just across the quad from Old Dorm. Composed of doubles and suites, New Dorm is pretty different from Old Dorm! Suites, typically populated by upperclassmen, have a common room connecting either 4 or 2 double rooms. Suites have one bathroom for every two doubles, whereas New Dorm doubles contain their own bathroom. If the last two digits of your room number are 30 or greater, you will be living in New Dorm!

new dorm lounge couches

Floor lounges

Each floor of New Dorm has its own floor lounge located centrally between all the dorm rooms. Lounges have tables, iconic orange couches, and a whiteboard!

Balcony

Balconies

The balconies are on either side of the fourth floor of New Dorm, with a great view of the quad and our neighboring colleges (Lovett, Sid, and Hanszen). Equipped with outlets and furniture, the balconies are a nice outdoor study spot!

laundry room

Laundry Room

At Will Rice, laundry is conveniently located on the first floor of New Dorm. The machines do not require any coins to operate. Make sure to join #lostsocks in Slack to be up to date on the laundry room!

music room drums

Music Room

Music room is on the first floor of New Dorm, facing the quad. You can reserve the music room to practice, so long as you obey the music room quiet hours!

computer room

Computer Room

The computer room is also on the first floor of New Dorm. You can use the computers in computer room to do work or to print. If you need to print out something bigger than the standard 8.5 x 11 paper, check out the Digital Media Commons at Fondren!
